Student Research Opportunities


I am always looking for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in data science, web services, and complex systems development as thesis topic. If listed topics does not interest you, I would be willing to work with you on a research topic of your interest as long as it is within realm of information systems.

Read research projects listed on the sidebar to get an idea on types of research problems that interests me. I strongly suggest reading listed articles to get familiarized with the problem. Please note that I do not have any funds to provide research assistantships.

I occasionally have suitable implementation projects from local community partners. Please note that these are not capstone projects. These projects would involve researching to improve processes and technologies relevant to the community partner organization.

Undergraduate Honor Capstone Project Supervision

  •   Jacie Ankrom (Spring 2022) - The purpose of this project was to create a web application for the nonprofit Presbyterian Social Ministries. The web application has features for community and organizations to place orders of free clothes from Presbyterian Social Ministries, and provisions for staffmembers to process orders received and manage inventory.
  •   Uche Onyibe (Fall 2018) - The goal of the project is to design and develop a text mining application to mine non-profit organizations (NPO) annual reports. The mined data will provide us insights into the NPOs decision-making process; what affects those decisions such as technology, finances, etc.; impacts produced by the NPOs; and much more.
  •   Elizabeth Moreno (Spring 2017) - The goal of the project was to design and develop a dashboard application for Beaver Street Fisheries to optimize inventory in supply chain management such that peak revenue is reached. She worked on this project in collaboration with feature[23], a Jacksonville-based software engineering firm.
